So I was looking through a thread from another forum I'm a member of and found this picture.

Granted, it is a fantasy forum I found it on; so it's defnitely a costume. Still...

I wonder if he is compensating for some shortcomings, of course as long a he is holding that great muckle sword I won't be the one to ask him.

This is a common sight at Renn Faires...this is this gentleman's attempt at being period (but non-SCA); but he is mixing fantasy and history and poorly at that. Wearing a tail is common at Ren Faires, but it's usually worn where...well...one might commonly find a tail

and that's not it. I find it interesting that he has both a tankard and a drinking horn...I guess he likes to two-fist his mead. The sword is a bit too fantasy and I won't even comment on that watch-looking thing...

Eventually, when I get some good pics of me in my great kilt, I'll post them. (My modern kilt, too...)

It's all relative, compared to soccer skirt man, this cousin is wrapped pretty tight....... but yeah, I have to agree with the above.

My general feeling is that for the kilt to come into modern acceptance, it has to evolve into a modern garment. Hopefully it can happen while preserving the traditions that make it such a grand garment.

Can't say that this strikes me as a step in the right direction. There is a lesson in that pic, but I lack to the fortitude and the will to uncover it.

But hey, if he is having a good time - he might be inspired to learn more. Let us pray.

In the olden days Scotsmen thought that the English had tails - so I doubt very much if they sported one!
