I never go without a sporran. First of all, without it, people mistake the kilt as a skirt, and secondly, where would you put all of your stuff?
But you are right, sporrans are great. Last weekend I was in for a long drive to the highland games, and I went to the drive-thru to get a pop (soda, for all you people outside of Wisconsin). See, with pants, I would've have to scrounge around through my pockets, leaning over and dropping change between the seats. With a sporran, it's all right there in my lap!!!
