I have to admit, after spending a good bit of time looking around, I found one with a beautiful green stone.
Now green is my favourite colour. And it prompted me to decide on that with green hose and a green cravat.

You know, I've never seen a Sgian that I've really liked. But these are beautiful! I think either one would be great, but the second one seems a bit more formal, imho. Probably because its a solid handle. Nice find!
I would go with a coloured stone. In my opinion black is too over done. Since you like the green stone, I'd say definitely get that. For me the stone on a sgain doesn't have to "match" the colour of any other item of the outfit, except perhaps the stone in a brooch.
