Welcome from Australia! Same advice as all the other guys: measure snug, & dont be tempted to slacken the tape off a tad for potential comfort. I also suffer from middle-age spread & have never even looked like losing my kilt. Maybe, until you are completely confident that it's going to stay put, wear a kilt belt at every opportunity.
from sunny Devon. I'd like to get myself a tartan some day too, but as I'm the only kilt wearer in my family, the expense is questionable. I'd be the only person in the world wearing it...unless my brother and nephew changed their views. It would be good to have a family tartan.
