I know through written accounts from my family that my ancesters traded "many colored plaids " with the indians for foodstuffs and such but no direct evidence that they wore kilts in early 1700's Virginia near what is now the New River Valley. CR66
...so what yer tellin' us is that the Indians got hooked on the kilt, too?
Thanks to all for the info. and links to past threads..... very interesting. Seems to me there is a bit of eviedence to support sporatic kilt wearing in the civilian population of early america and plenlty to to support it in a Military (British Army) context.
