But, I know for a FACT my natural waist could not have been much smaller than 36" if at all. At 170 lbs I was almost 30 lbs under the maximum allowable weight for my height and age. Another example. I had a Flight Sgt. who was one of those rough and tumble Purple Heart wearing types. This guy was flipping HUGE. Guessing, his waist could NOT have been a 1/16 under 40" But, his body fat measurement was through the floor. Guy benched over 500 lbs max and all that. Don't think he needed to do anything about his waist line. He was just built like a bull dog. There are 2 good points here, yes there are cleary guys who are bigger than 36 inch waist. From memory the largest size "off the peg kilt" is 188/96/112

if you're bigger than that then you get a "special made to order" and there is a Nato Stock Number for that.

Your comment on your Flight Sgt is interesting and I believe highlights a difference between our two "armies" Fitness here is much more Aerobic based rather than being about bulking up, was your Flight Sgt much of a runner??

While hijacking the thread a bit our fitness test standards can be found at http://www.army.mod.uk/linkedfiles/s.../matt2_web.pdf if you are curious!!

He may not have had the fastest run time, but he was well within the requirements for fitness. I am not at all saying that the American Military emphasizes 'bulking up." He just happened to be a "gym rat." That was his thing. And, as a result, his body fat percentage was very low. I guess my point was he had a pretty big waist but was in great shape no matter how you look at it.

The post man just stopped by and delivered, to my door, the kilt I purchased from Argyll on eBay. Seven days transit total. I haven't even had a chance to unwrap it yet but it looks exactly as described. As soon as I get a chance I will post photos.
