By the way, Todd is getting the flag in the picts above.
On flags,
I gave a number and 3 flag poles, one in front and 2 hanging off my back deck. I am a bit of a flag addict and an amateur "vexiologist" (one who studies flags), because flags are the symbols people use to identify themselves and display in prominence. The color-bearers were the ones that PUT DOWN their guns (swords, axes, or hammers in times past) and hold a POLE as they charged into battle. Flags are SO much more than the sum of their parts. How they came into being, what they mean (specific intended symbolism), and how they developed/evolved/changed over time is VERY interesting to me, as well as the art of construction, design, and simple beauty.
In short, a flag is a scrap of cloth that one would DIE for, not for the cloth itself, but for what it embodies.
THAT just FACINATES me!
