Potain/Swordsman jackets as formal wear

I really enjoy the fact that even in formal situations there is a variety of ways one can wear kilt attire.

In that big pic of the whole wedding party I think the gentleman with the boots looks great. I don't mind the hose down look at all, however if it were me, I would have went with a heavier, plain colored sock to match the shirt.

The guy in the boots is actually wearing what I've seen sold as a Jacobite Vest. I like both looks very much.
