    Yes!

I am a very big fan of Dandelions and of Dandelion and Burdock juice and ale.

But even at 24 I still find myself referring to Dandelions as 'Pee the beds'

    P.S.

As for all of this 'What is a Clan' stuff.

    Take a chill pill.
Panache was saying something in a good spirit and I still think it holds.

I am from Scotland. I have a large extended family with strong blood ties, can recite my lineage and am active in my Clan community.
But I feel no need to bicker over whether or not X-Marks is 'technically' a clan or any of that.

Can't we all just enjoy the moment of brother and sisterhood and love each other?

Well, that's a new one on me! Here, we make wishes and blow all the seeds off of the puffy ones. (Apparently called the "clock," according to the Wiki.) That, or use the stems to propel the heads off the flowering ones at one another. No incontinence involved.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    flattered indeed! ;)

I vote for the dandelion too. They are everywhere, yellow, reference to lions (rampant or otherwise)

And I love the "not by blood but by choice motto" it's so fitting!

I am just grateful to have a forum, community, society, club, or clan, that I have been welcomed to. A place to talk about the kilt, and the kilted lifestyle. I appreciate the folks here, and their opinions and thoughts.

In parting a quote from Jane Howard, a US "journalist, writer". Her books included "Families," 1978 and "Margaret Mead: A Life," 1984."

Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one."

Since we're a kilting group, something like heather or the thistle might be appropriate. But that may also be too Scottish, and we are an international group.

well... barley isn't only used in brewing beer..it is also used in making whiskey... as far as hops.. since hops weren't added to beers (or mead) originally, Heather was used as it provided the bittering effect desired, just not as strongly as hops..

now as far as I'm concerned... Xmarks is a clan... maybe not a recognized clan..but who cares.. there are a lot of Irish/Scottish "clans" out there that are not recognized..yet no one stops them from calling themselves a clan...

    Agreement

Henceforth whenever I'm asked what tartan or clan my XMTS is, it's Clan X.

That is pretty much how this "clan" expands. We keep producing more members and yet we aren't breeding with each other. (a few members notwithstanding).

I like the dandelion. I used to grow them in my yard and put the leaves and flowers in salads or fry the leaves up with salt pork like spinach. As a bonus, if you are heading to an event and realize you forgot your plant badge, you can probably find one growing right there .

I would also like to add my vote for the "Non per cruor tamen per sententia" motto.

Now we need a battle cry... "hand over your wallet" has already been taken by clan Campbell, I believe.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world...
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

Well done Jamie! You should be proud to bring something to the fore which obviously many of us have been thinking all along! Brothers and Sisters All!
