For the record, many St. Andrew's societies have such "inclusive" membership requirements.

In our local society, we have two French Cajuns, a Brazilian of Scottish-American heritage (who is our President, btw) and a 100% German Lutheran from Nebraska (who is married to a lady of Scottish & Cherokee heritage).

I just wanted folks not to associate all St. Andrew's Societies with the membership requirements of a few.

I think that that's part of the reason for the righteous indignation here...a St.A's Society that's SO particular about who they let in would seem to be an incredible exception to the norm.
