CHEAP???? thats a freaking fantastic price. My local vacuum and sewing machine repair shop has one listed for $95.00.. I inherited my grandmothers singer sewing machine that does not use electricity, but has a foot trundle. Don't use it because it takes a lot of coordination to operate it. I have one that is about as older than yours but its in a cabinet,,, and I don't use it often, because the cord heats up and the motor begins to smell and smoke just a bit. I need to have the motor replaced.. the repair shop is looking for a new motor for it.
You might want to take it to a shop to see what it would cost to clean and oil it. You would hate to be in a middle of making a kilt and having it die on you!!
Best of luck!
