Hmmmm, interesting topic. Splash-4 has a long sordid name. It comes from the time when I used to help design wargames (anyone remember avalon hill??) One of the games I helped beta test was called Air Superiority and Air Strike. These games simulated Air to Air combat on paper. Splash-4 came about when during a match, I had 4 Aim-9m missiles fail to ignite.
Not as interesting as some, but still has more meaning to me than some other things I have been called (like MAC when I was in the air force)
