I've noticed that the service is faster and more personable when I'm kilted. The other day I wore pants (kilts were dirty from camping and no time to wash them) and I got a few disappointed looks from ladies who were accustomed to seeing me kilted. One even had a sad face and a "where's your kilt?" and I hardly knew the lass.

I would say I usually get better service. I would also say it's the kilt itself, not because I'm wearing a "strange" article of clothing. I don't think I'd get the same response standing around in a cape. Or maybe I would!

I don't know that I get better service, but overall, I get friendlier service...and that's a big plus.

I definitely get better, faster service in a kilt - they can't pretend they haven't seen you, when you don't want to be disturbed the kilt keeps them at bay, and speed - I think of it as the "While I'm waiting for you, my kilt and I will be in our waiting room, scaring the out of your other customers by just sitting there" effect.
Pants - I just blend into the background.

Ron I have some very bad news for you. One time can hardly be seen as scientific proof. You'll have to go back more often in pants. Best we just sweep this under the rug along with the trousers.

I've noticed in my region of Canada that caped folks are generally not wanted by most servers. They seem to carry some sort of looming that people here don't appreciate. On that not however, most of the people wearing capes are goth kids.

You betcha!
I have to agree that there is more attentive service given to me while kilted. Clerks are friendlier and probably the most telling time was last spring in Las Vegas, my wife complained that the cocktail girls seemed to hover around me and she had to come over near me to get a drink!! Go figure!

This weekend, I left Tampa Saturday afternoon going to Orlando for a New World Celt International Meeting. Of course I was kilted, I had plans to go to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after for the rest of the weekend. On the way there I stop at one of those rest areas in the middle of the highway. Just before my arrival there a charter bus full of black ladies unloaded. When I entered the restaurant I was spotted and called SCOTTY. Several nice comments was made and some sexual comments were made that I can not repete, the lovely ladies made me cut in line in front of them. There were about 60 of them. It was very funny and all I could do was turn red and laugh. As I left the room, all 60 ladies said
"Goodbye, SCOTTY"
