Weeks later, in the small town I lived in, I saw this same bunch... they were perfectly courteous.
My point is: I don't advocate violence, but sometimes just walking away is condoning bad behavior.
It never ceases to amaze me that you have to speak to some young people this way. If my father had ever found out that I'd said something like that to an adult, whatever that adult had done to me as punishment would have been heaven compared to what I'd have received at home.
This is probably considered way out there, but I have the same attitude with my kids and have informed them and their teachers, etc as such. It worked well for generations, why fix what isn't broken?

Ditto here! My parents would have freaked out, if I so much as looked at an adult the wrong way.

Absolutely! My daughter knows my rules & values... if she breaks the rules, she's initially on her own. The proper authority has my permission to throw the book at her. Then, it's my turn. She's 18, and I've never had any real problems with her.
