Now is the time for a "sermon" preached to the congregation of St. Luke's Anglican Catholic Church by the late Canon Ramsey-Kendall, formerly of the RAF, WWII, and the Scottish National Soccer team, as I understood it.

Seems the Scots went to play the French in Paris, and the night before the game the two teams got together to celebrate the Auld Alliance and evidently had a few drams of wine/whisky. Finally, in the wee hours of the morning the party broke up and the Scots returned to their hotel.

The next day they staggered out onto the field to discover the French team they had been drinking with was not the French team they were playing. The Scots lost.
