I know that this is a complaint of many guys, and I too prefer the look of a wider apron. However, the purpose of the narrower one is to drop between your legs while working. I shoot film and video, and am regularly on the ground or other weird places at times. I have an RKilt, and the only thing I don't like (compared to my UK's) is that the apron is always either in the way or I'm exposing more than I should.
