Barb, Barb, Barb....I so wish you hadn't pointed that out...New Hampshire State tartan eh?

One of my ancestors, my six great grandfather Samuel Blake (crazy Englishman) was a Portsmouth , N.H. fisherman who sailed off with an armed fleet of other New Hampshire fishermen to roust the French from Ft. Louisburg, Nova Scotia in June of 1745. The French were rousted, but they managed to kill Samuel Blake in battle. His adult son Samuel Blake, Jr. was also on the mission and survived so I'm here typing this today.

Have always thought a kilt to remind myself of his folly would be appropriate, but there's no Blake tartan...but hey, a New Hampshire tartan...and a beautiful tartan too...hmmmm

And, the right to wear another purple and green tartan and say, "No, its not Isle of Skye, its New Hampshire state.....

It's a fab tartan, particularly pleated to the stripe - see the picture below of my two favorite hams hamming it up. Maybe you need another kilt? I know that you have Kathy make your kilts, and she may or may not know that the only place that carries the NH tartan (as far as I know) is the New Hampshire St. Andrew's Society, and it's 14 oz. She can order it at http://www.standrewsocietynh.org/tar...nhtartan1.html. Or.......you could always branch out and have me make you a kilt!!!

BTW - all of Dave's ancestors have been in the Portsmouth area since about 1630 - maybe your six great grandad knew Dave's ancestors!
