Gee Wiz, maybe you should take Mike up on his offer. Get something up at least.

That really sucks, you should deff have control over your website at all times thou. My site is currently under development and I share the access with my webmaster but the password gets changed as soon as he is done making updates. Lesson learned I guess, I would recommend using a flash website with a html subpages thou. My host is www.hostmonster.com they have been great and very helpful at all times. 24/7 tech support rocks. Take care and good luck, if you need help with design give me a hollar.

With this kind of tactful diplomatic service I am shocked that the Wizard's reputation as a warm and cuddly customer oriented shopkeep is not stronger. Some people just do not recognize mastery of skill when it is presented. Dolts.

I thought I would throw my $0.02 USD in. I have been doing website design/maintenance for about 10 years now. I refrain from using flash animation, realplayer bits and other such bandwidth hogging extras because they are not necessary to have a good website..

There are still a lot of people on dial-up that will go to some other website instead of waiting 15 minutes for an animation to load. That means lost customers to the site owner.

I stick with HTML 4.01 compliant html only. A lot can be done without flash and other bandwidth hoggers. Even on broadband, I won't wait for a animated splash screen to load. I just go somewhere else.

BTW, http://omnis.com has been reliable for me. I have had only one outage for a few hours in the past 2 years. Their prices are cheap, too.

These are just my opinions. Your mileage may vary.

Yea, Stan, but you'd have to catch me first.

The site is up and running in it's original configuration.

The next step is to start the re-design. Because I have had so many problems with web designers in the past I approached the new guys with a 16 page, very detailed description of what I want done.
I included mock-ups of pages, full text, and even descriptions of color and spacing.

Just because someone can write code does not mean they know anything about graphic design. This has been my problem all along.

We're dumping the Ruby on Rails language the current site is written in and going back to PHP.

I have only the measuring video on my site that may give dial-up guys a problem. I'm not looking for an MTV version of a website with all the cute new bells and whistles. I prefer a classic, timeless look.
