    Welcome aboard,

Good choice for a first kilt.

I waited, wanted top of the line. Here's what a hand sewn 14oz Leatherneck looks like on a beer belly.

Here's the backside...pleats in the wind.

Kathy Lare, who's also a Marine mother, sewed it up. Was kilt #1002 for her. Set me back $460.00 but she makes it easy with half down on order then the other half isn't due until completion.

I love it both for what it stands for, and for the beautiful tartan it is.

Realize funding may be an issue, but its a worthy goal. I was tempted to go with a less expensive Leatherneck tartan but once I saw it in 14oz wool at a highland games there was just no other way to go for me.

    Semper Fi,

    Ron

Ron, thanks for the pic. It's a beautiful kilt. This won't be my only Leatherneck, just my first. I'll be looking to see who'll make another for me. I'll keep Kathy in mind. I was also thinking maybe getting box pleats done by the gentleman (can't recall his name) that does them that others here have bought from.

    Matt Newsome

I have one of his Box Pleated kilts, and LOVE it. I've also seen a Leatherneck tartan he sewed up from 16 oz. wool that was fantastic.

Great photos, Brad! Where and when were they taken? Is that Steve Ashton of Freedom Kilts there with you?

Nah! That's not Ashton. He's not swilling coffee and swearing up a blue streak.
