I took heart from the fact that Rocky's USA Kilts casual models have no reverse pleat, either and they look good.
Yup, I'm wearing one. Boy, are they the right garment for South Carolina! I did invest a foot of fabric in an under-pleat for my X-kilt Mk.I. Since I didn't make a huge under-apron, I guess that was a good choice.
