    Tartan alternative

Hey, folks. I need a little help. I want to get a kilt made from my family tartan, which is in my avatar, but it's a rare tartan, and I don't have$800 to dump into it. I actually saw a hat at a festival recently that I mistook for my family tartan at first glance. I don't remember what it was. If anyone can give me a tartan that looks similar to the one in my avatar, it would be great. Thanks in advance!

Have you checked with Matt Newsome and his four yard box pleat? Save the cost of three yards of material and possibly some extra labour. It might make your family tartan a little more affordable.

    Knighthawk,

Have a look at Stuart of Bute. It adds a White stripe to your pattern.

Have a look at the Hay tartan. The stripes are different, but the colouring looks the same. The Hay tartan is also available in a more cost effective PV kilt from either www.usakilts.com or www.canadiancasualkilts.com

Rocky has a good photo of it here http://www.usakilts.com/tartans/hay_t.jpg
