Nope, I'm with the 41st out of Oregon.

I'd been with my current unit of 6 years both as an NCO and an Officer. When I took a job in Seattle, I thought about transferring to the 81st. But they couldn't offer me anything I didn't already have and the closest unit was only 40 miles north of my current unit.

In short, they couldn't make a compelling argument for me to leave the soldiers who were the main reason I took a commission in the first place.

The last time I was in that region was shortly after Desert Storm. Sometimes it's kinda funny being a 40-year-old 1LT who has served for every president since President Reagan. I knew my current and previous battery commanders as privates. In fact, my current commander used was one of my soldiers about 10 years ago.

Only in the Guard.
