    Private airfield near Boston

When the van stopped, the two men pulled us out and I saw that we were at a hangar on a private airstrip. The two men directed us into the hangar.

“What do you want with us?” I asked the men. “If you want a ransom, I will gladly contact my company to arrange it.”

“Thanks for the offer, buddy, but our employer asked us to bring you here.”

    “Who is this employer?”

“You’ll find out soon enough.” He pushed us through the door into the hangar.

The men directed us through the hangar towards an office in the back. Ms. Thrush continued to cling to me as if she were terrified.

“What are they going to do with us, Anton?” she asked me, her voice quivering.

“I don’t know, Raquel. We’ll just have to do what they say.”

As we walked into the office, a man was seated at the desk with his back to us. He had apparently heard us, as he answered our question when we entered.

“You will not be harmed, Ms. Thrush,” he said. “We just needed you and Mr. Dove out of the way. Oh, and you can drop the frightened bimbo act. I know that you two are part of a team that the Moderators hired.”

I wasn’t willing to drop our cover just yet. “What are you talking about?” I asked. “I don’t know anything about any Moderators. I am a simple businessman and I was just taking my companion to a fashion show,”

He still had his back to us. “Give it a rest. I know that you are a member of the forum and that Mike sent you out to rescue some kidnap victims.”

Apparently, this man did know who we were. “Okay, and just how would you know all this?” I asked.

“Because I am a member of the forum as well,” he answered, while getting up from his chair.

I noticed the man was wearing a leather kilt as part of his outfit, and I began to suspect who it might me. My suspicion was confirmed when the man turned to face us. The man who had kidnapped us was Robert, a maker of contemporary kilts from Canada, also known as Canuck!

“And now that I have captured your team,” he continued, “Nothing will stop our plan.”
