Yep - That's it's name. I name all my vehicles. The names sort of grow on the things after a few weeks of driving. It's La Tortuga!

I've made a gentleman's agreement to purchase this 1927 Essex hotrod pickup from an old childhood friend. The truck cab is Essex but the fenders, hood, radiator shell and chassis are all 1930 Chevrolet.
He and his dad built it in the late 70's, and it's been hiding away in a storage locker for the past 20 years. I had a small hand in helping build it back then, plus I got to drive all over the place in it going to car shows and such. When he decided to sell it he wanted to insure it went to a good home, and as I have a bit of a history with it he knew I was the one to buy it. It will look great at our new home (story and pics to follow).
These two pics were taken in 1979, and aside from it not having the "Texaco" decals on the doors it hasn't changed a bit. It runs a 225ci Dodge slant-6 engine with automatic transmission.
I should be finalizing the purchase in the spring, once we move.

Wow, new house and a new truck! You must be doing alright.
Congrats!

Thanks! We're doing ok, but the house and the truck both cost a lot less than you might think. We will, however, finally be debt-free aside from a very small mortgage on the house. Can't wait for that!

Not a ride, but rather a glide
Good to see another sailor on-board (pun intended) - we don't see many Hunters in my waters.

well, if you are going to include that, here's mine: a Pinarello 4:13 carbon fibre frame, forks and stays. And it goes like a rocket!
