I'm in, I have several favorites to contribute!

This would be the way to go.

Question - What does it cost to get a book professionally published?

I'm in. I'm graphic artist trapped in a chef's body (currently shopping for capital to build my first restaurant concept) with a eye toward fusion cuisine. i love to play with various latin american and japanese ideas all presented for the north american pallet.

    Current household favorites:
    spicy black bean soup
flame seared tuna & crispy wonton salad w/ wasabi dressing
tequila marinated chicken panini w/ spicy black bean pesto & grilled vegetables
duck, apple, and goat cheese pizza.

if we are interested in producing a traditional printed & bound book we have some hurdles to overcome. aside from money there is consistent design, photography, editing and lots of other details that need to be considered. I'm certain Barb can weigh in on all the details of published work.

    Boy, great idea.

I have a recipe for "Blast Off Beans" that will keep your kilt pleats dancing in your own wind.....

I started a recipes thread so we can start getting recipes together. I kicked off with my recipe for chili lasagna.

I have published four books thus far and am a professional photographer. However, I think that there a some basics that would need to be addressed long before getting to those considerations. There are many good publishers and a GOOD cookbook is always in demand. It's what makes it GOOD that has to be decided up front, but even before that, there are the issues re such a work having the blessings of the owner of the X Marks the Scot name, etc..

My view would be something that would be truly unique that is an interesting read as well as a resource; something that represents the diversity of those here.

I would like to contribute some recipes too. I'm really not an ethnic kind of cook - mostly what i call "hearty" food. About the only thing Scottish in my fabulous files that i do regularly is my Shortbread - but most likely every one has a shortbread recipe in their collection.

I know how to make a pizza using only a phone and a credit card. Does that help?

In all seriousness, I'd love to help, but I only really have 3 recipes.

Bacon and chocolate chip pancakes with real whip cream is tasty, but I don't know how to make it without simply adding bacon and chocolate chips to pancake mix.

My amazing brownies also just use a mix, and are simply cooked in a smaller pan and filled with peanut butter chips and topped with dark chocolate frosting. Tasty but hardly original. On a side note, I have seen them bring grown men to tears.

My world famous half raw hamburgers are incredible (particularly with bacon, provolone and BBQ sauce on a toasted bun) but I don't know that you want that kind of liability.

What about something like http://www.lulu.com/ as a publishing alternative? Last check I got a "performing maintenance" page, hopefully they will be back up soon.
