No, not yet. I'm really torn here. On the one hand, I don't wear my PK's often. On the other hand ... well, they're really good work.

I have private messages from a few of you. When I make a decision, I'll send private replies.

And, yes, I really am that torn about letting them go.

Don't know if it helps any UB...my solution was to sell all but one. Kept the one, even though I can't squeeze into it...nostalgia...incentive to diet and exercise...just did.

Embarrassing to "outgrow" an adjustable waistline...

Sorta considered Jeff's work art. Better to let them be out and about, pleats dancing in the wind, than hanging in my closet.

Just my final resolution...

Alas, I don't have a Pittsburgh Kilt in my Kollection! I was still umming and ahhing over the two colours I wanted to incorporate in the kilt I was about to order from Jeff, when he decided to give up! If/when he takes up his needles and threads again, I'll be right there!

I'd be fascinated to see one of these - particularly a multicolour one just to see how they are constructed. Anyone got photos?

My latest kilt, made from striped material, has alternate red and white inner folds - due to the way the fabric is made. It also has fifty small pleats due to the way the fabric is made.

The effect is rather stunning, so I would be interested to see a method for making kilts which enables the creation of different coloured inner pleats as required.

I know (think) that I really ought to work up some technique of my own - but my sensible side says why reinvent the wheel? Since passing fifty I have been so aware of the hamster wheel of mortality.

I have a Pittsburgh Kilt tri-color kilt in my gallery. Just a two color with change in color. Idea was to represent the Arizona Flag. Don't know if the pics will help though.

You might also try Jeff's old website www.pittsburghkilts.com I think it was still up a while back...another hopeful sign. He had a gallery of pics on the website too.

The construction details on the website are for 'normal' kilts - though it is interesting to see the photos of the kilts the sort of information I would like is on the way the two and multi colour kilts are made.

The two tone ones look as though the presumably heavier material of the outside of the pleats is cut in rectangles then joined above the fell and shaped into the waistband. The inside material, presumably is continuous in the two colour kilt, and the free edges of the outside material are sewn down onto it. Or perhaps it too is strips sewn to the edges of the outer fabric.

I just wonder - is the underneath material only from fell to lower edge or is it waist to lower edge? Are the outer strips rectangular or wider at the lower edge than the fell? If they are wider, is one side straight and the other shaped, or is the shaping even on both sides.

Where there are different colours in the underneath material, is it made into a continuous strip or is the back of the outer material visible and the underneath attached at the edges?

Are the edges of the fabrics turned under or laid flat and over sewn, as that would be less bulky.

So many possibilities would take quite a while to try out - and I am already up to the eyebrows in material waiting to be sewn up.

*sigh* I wish i had a two tone PK as well.
I'm sorta surprised that Jeff gave it up altogether. I realize that the computer stuff is a steady job and likely pays much better....but he seemed to really love it, kilt making that is. I figure he might do it only as a hobby now at least. *shrug*
