1) How often do you wear the kilt?
It depends on what I am doing. It might be daily for several weeks, yet some weeks it might be only once or twice.
2) (If you wear it daily) What profession allows this sort of dress?
I work for myself and wear several hats. I own a catering business and I NEVER wear kilts in the kitchen. I also run Scottish events, conduct whisky tastings and do the "Address to a Haggis" professionally. For the all of those I am always kilted.
3) How does your significant other feel about it?
She's OK with it. If I am not kilted for a few days she might ask why.
4) How do you respond to people who question your motives for wearing the kilt?
Occasionally someone asks why, but I don't think anyone has ever questioned my motives.
(I have a very good, very old friend (a girl) who just could not believe that I wear a kilt in public. She gave me a really hard time about it over dinner with other friends. I was really surprised at her reaction. None of my guy friends have reacted that way.)
I've never had any negative remarks from women (with the possible exception of my mother-in-law)
5) Do you think kilts are becoming more popular?
Yes, but insignificantly in the general population. Also, I think there has been a larger gain in Utilikilts, Amerikilts and similar garments than there has been in kilts, and I'm not yet convinced that isn't a fad.
6) Do you really want them to be more popluar?
No.
