Sorry, gate keeper is a term where I am from. It signifies the thing someone either has to do or chooses to do in order the get in/ fit in.
Ex: Gary Goodridge was considered the gate keeper in K-1 because all the new guys had to fight him.
Is it really that uncommon a term in the USA?
