I know it's an old post. but i just had to reply, as a bride to be (McGurk's bride to be to be precise)- Of course she can't wear the dress! You've seen it now so she needs a new one either way! Lol.
Most women go a bit funny over dresses, but at least once you're married it won't matter anymore- Until you drive past a church where a brides getting married in the same dress as she did, then depending on the kind of bride there may be tears over someonelse having HER dress.

When I tried doing this, I tended to get into more trouble, cause my lady thought that I was trying to make up for something. So the first thing she would say after gettign flowers wasn't "Thanks" or "How lovely" but "What did you do now?"

You silly man. Remember these three things
'I'm Sorry, you are right, I love you.'
Yes, she is being silly, and they are differant dresses (even if they are both white, and they are both narrow at the top and wide at the bottom and have room for a bride in them) however, dont ever expect her to see that.
Womens failing is that they'll never see sence.
Our failing is that we'll never get to grips with that.

A great man once said: "She's marrying you for the exact opposite reason you're marrying her: she thinks you'll change. She thinks you'll change, for the BETTER. Things don't get better as they get older. Look at your truck. Look at your roof. Look in the MIRROR!"
And when it comes to arguments...just remember this important life lesson:
It doesn't matter what you think - you'd know this if you were married.
