Of course your welcome, what would men in kilts be without admirers.

Hey, Chef, I guess that you didn't notice my posting the other day that I had indeed made reservations for the six of us who had indicated that we're coming for a table at **6:30** Sorry, BlackWater, I didn't hear from you, so went ahead and did it, and have now upped that to the ten which your friends and Big Fins (and hubby?) raise this to.
I'm going to be there at the bar about six, should anyone else wish to arrive early.
One question I have is whether scotch makes a good apperatif or is better for after dinner.

Hubby and I were all set to go tonight and were so looking forward to meeting all of you, but his first kilt - which he'd been awaiting weeks for now - still hasn't come in. He's furious. He was sure (and assured) that it would be ready by this week. Now, no kilt to wear on kilt night...what a bummer!
I suggested to Hubby that we turn up at the St. Andrew's Pub tonight anyway, just to introduce ourselves, but he gasped in horror at my suggestion. Was it that bad? I guess not being a true 'kiltie' myself, I'm unaware of proper kilted etiquette. I just wanted to have a fun evening out. Silly me!
So, as it stands now, I'm all set to go tonight, but he won't budge. Not to put anyone in the middle of a husband&wife squabble, but what's your take on this?

Hey TwoBigFins,
My take is that he might also be thinking that he won't fit in and wants to avoid feeling left out. I can totally understand his concern though the people who are going (whom I've never met) seem nice and would probably go out of their way to make him feel welcome. I certainly would.
I have never been to this spot but I'm guessing that most people there tonight (the regular patrons) will not actually be in a kilt.

TBF, I agree with Dalmore on BOTH points. As a veteran of many kilts nights on two continents I'd have to say he should go. It won't be an issue. Not to mention a Friday night out in Manahattan is fun!

I would say i understand if he didn't want to attend a "kilt" night in britches, but tonight is St. Andrew's night. The fact that some in the bar will be kilted is pure coincidental. Tell him to come.
Galician, I did miss your post about the reservation, but I'm thrilled you got one; if not surprised. It may be that business is a bit slow early because of Broadway being dark. See you there.

I agree with Chef. This is first and foremost a St. Andrew's Day event. So I hope that both of you could come and meet us.
Then you can reconsider and come to next week's Kilt Night, and we'll be able to ignore you as people and focus on your kilt.

I had to have hubby read all your warm messages before I could get him to reconsider, but he has! We will both be at the get-together tonight, although neither of us will be sporting bare knees this time around. I suppose I could wear a skirt, but since I could barely get the Big Guy to go along with me as is, I figured let me not push my luck...heheh.
I sure wanted to go out tonight and meet you all, but didn't want to leave my trousered Hubby home alone. Thanks for helping me get him out the door! We'll see you all in a little while!
