    I do know that most tux rental shops can get you one of those black tie waiters jackets that only reach the waist, and that wouldn't look bad at all.

    Sorry, I didn't see you last reply about sizing problems.

    Just go somewhere you can buy a cheap black vest and wear it with a bow tie. Sew on some silver buttons if you like, and you'll look fine. And seeing as how you'll be kilted, even without a jacket, you'll still be better dressed that the panted ones. (Is panted a word? )

    I agree here. A vest can look very dashing.
