I am from VA Beach grew up there and was stationed at Little Creek and there is no way I would go to P-Town you'll get shot or robbed over there.
I'll be in town for new years but unless some Christmas miracle that has change the area don't think I'll make it.

Portsmouth isn't a perfect area, but from what I've read/seen it's been cleaned up fairly well. Most of the negative news from that side of the James seems to come from Norfolk or Va Beach.
