As a native Iowan myself (a transplant to Illinois), I can say that we usually made fun of Minnesota, but it was all just in good fun. As a life-long Vikings fan, it's not easy living in Bears country.

My Grandfather took me ice fishing in Illinois when I was but a wee laddie. Fox river or Fox lake or something like that. Anyway, this is the guy that spent his life as a Chicago brick layer, retired, and moved to Northern Wisconsin. I guess he had something against warm air and sunshine. Anyway, if you're going to go ice fishing, you got to have a shanty. That way, you can have your wood stove going for heat, the beer hanging just outside the door, and you can fish in relative comfort.
