The kilt attracts conversation. I did all of my Christmas shopping kilted. Even in the hustle and bustle of some very crowded malls, complete strangers had questions or compliments for my kilt (especially the ladies!). I was mostly referred as "smartly dressed". I walk with pride while kilted and it shows in the way people are attracted to me. It also takes at least a half hour longer to shop in a store with all the side conversations. But very worth it.
