2nd kilt, first outing
I've made a kilt from a tartanish wool and worn it to renfests and Highland games. But this Christmas my family bought me a kilt in MacFarlane hunting. That's my mom's tartan, and she's Scottish, not to be confused with an American of Scottish descent (by which I mean no offense, because I are one).
And last night, I wore it out in "public." My wife and I went to dinner. I was a bit surprised to hear absolutely no comments, but at least that means there was nothing negative.

Welcome from NH. Nice to hear about a positive experience, some here have not been so fortunate, some people just don't get it. I like the bonnet in your avatar, did you make it yourself?. It has an historical look about it. I'm an American of Scottish descent as well, although it's been hundreds of years since any member of my family lived in Scotland.

I did indeed make the bonnet myself. I was going for a historical look -- it's the one I wear at ren faires -- so I'm glad to hear that! It's a bit wider than a balmoral, which comes in handy for blocking the sun, which we get a bit more of in Florida than they do in, say, Scotland.

First of all
You made that yourself? That's real cool, man.
Sometimes no comments is great, because then there are no negative comments.

I just reread your post. We are playing a 19th C ball tomorrow night in Manheim, PA. The affair is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Ren Faire. Ever do anything up there?

Most folks do not comment at all. Which is fine. Most of those that say anything at all, say something positive. Then there are the few, the rude, the jerks Just be ready for them
