I saw their performance with my wife today!

    Great job, guys!

The commentators even remarked that they get no additional credit for being part of the pipe band - they do it because they want to!

I was talking on the phone to a kilt wearing pal in San Francisco yesterday morning (9.00am your time - 5.00pm our time) whilst he was watching the Rose Parade (the one in Pasadena) on TV. At one point he gave me a running commentary on the kilts he was seeing. I thought he said there were several kilted individuals in the parade in addition to the band.

    Take care,
    Ham.

I'd love to hear a recording of that, since I didn't see the parade on TV. I used to live about forty miles up the valley from VMI. One of my father's college buddies taught there for years. Beautiful campus, too.

VMI does an outstanding job at the Stone Mountain Games each year. Such a sharp corps of cadets.

I've seen them at Stone before too. They always look and sound great. The uniforms are very nice.

The VMI Band is a regular visitor at the Stone Mountain Highland Games, they are great. HGTV is the place to watch the Rose Parade.

There's a "Dirty Jobs" with Mike Rowe episode about the guys that destroy the floats after the parade. That was cool, too.

There was an "Up With People" group that performed just before the parade started, all in "native costume". Several kilts were in that group.

Their uniforms look really really sharp, and they have a sound to match!
