Tartan proportions question

Is there anyway to find the proportions for a particular tartan in order to try my hand at weaving my own?

I'm particuarly interested in the Clan Cian tartan.

There's a couple ways to go. Try sending a PM to knowledgeable XMarkers (Matt Newsome, STA member; or, michael steinrock, officer of Clan Cian out this way) and request the thread counts. Or, order something small made from the tartan (which you can use later, like a swatch or flashes, shawl for the wife, etc.) and count the threads yourself. Happy hunting.
