I've a bit of news, and a question for the rabble. First the news:
I've asked my girlfriend Kelley to marry me this past New Years Eve. She excitedly accepted! I think we've already nailed down the location, and we're considering what the groomsmen will wear. I called my local kilt shoppe Things Celtic, and I am at odds on whether to rent a kilt package, or buy one. Here is my reasoning:

I could rent the package including kilt (Scottish National), belt, buckle, sporran (embossed leather), sgian dubh, jacket, shirt, and tie. We would have to buy the socks and find our own brogues, or wear black dress shoes.

However, for less than the rental price I could have them buy a package from SWK and the groomsmen would have something that they could keep. The only flaw in that whole idea is I can't figure where we would get the jackets.

 Now on to the question:

If we buy the kilts and accessories what are our options on jackets? We want to keep costs low, as the groomsmen will be paying for this.

Thanks for all of you help!

Here are a few pictures of me and the poor girl.

CONGRATULATIONS!!I would definitely say "buy" rather than "rent"! If the wedding date is far enough away, perhaps you could have a jacket tailoring party? Could be fun!!

No clue on the buy rent decision...think that's pretty personal depending on the circumstances. Nice you have a choice. Obviously you'll get a better quality kilt renting. Were it my choice I'd go for the rental quality "real kilt" look.
What I really want to know is, is her mother/sister/cousin single??? What a beauty she is.

					Congratulations!
If the price is the same and the SWK kilts look good, then why not go for something they can (hopefully) enjoy in the future? I can't help with the jackets question though. If you find a cheap, good source, be sure to let me know!

					Congratulations.
Take a look at the Celtic Crofts website www.kilts-n-stuff.com I believe they have a rental package for jackets and accessories but not the kilt.

 Cheers

Well, the month is narrowed down to October (both of our favorite months). It's looking like the reception is going to be held outdoors under several old oak trees and the wedding in front of an old German settlers church that is right next to these oaks. We plan on setting up a dance floor under the oaks and stringing bare bulb lights and maybe some white Christmas lights up and dancing under the stars and trees.

Since it is to be somewhat rustic, I was thinking we could get away with vests, but it just seems to informal for a wedding. I don't think she would like just the vests.
