Phil, this is sort of a sidebar, but I really am quite struck by the waistcoat---it is quite striking! Kiltos to your lady.

    DIY Regulation Doublet in process

    Hello all,

Work let up and Burns Supper is approaching ,so I spent a night tinkering with my Doublet.

Here's a shot of an un-altered coat, and one in progress. I apologize for the quality. My new camera is in transit as I type.

Here's a detail shot of the tashes.

I scavenged the material for jacket #3 to add flaps to jacket #2. #1, pictured above in the first frame, is waiting nervously in the wings. Tonight I'll replicate the gauntlet cuffs from my dad's Argylle, and add epaulets.

I'll update with a completed picture at the event.

Materials used (try not to laugh Doc): parachute cord and Cordura for inserts. I'm slowly tailoring a new argylle from scratch, so I'm hording the hair canvas.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

That looks great tailoring - do you do it for a living? There are lots of guys here always looking for jackets. I'm glad you dodn't go for the silver cording though - looks too military.

I just recenly upgraded from a black argyll for formal to the PC. I perceive that the regulation doublet is as formal as the pc. Wear it in good health and fun.
