So what's decided to be the best material for PB? Nylon or poly cotton? There were a couple hardcore paintball guys that joined the forum last year (Twinkletows and LK-13) that went PB kilted. Their team decided on acrylic SWKs in Black Watch. Somehow I can't imagine wearing my Desert Camo FK (no sand in Ontario).

There is an entire PB team in Oklahoma that use my Cargo Model Kilts in MarPat Digital Camo in woodland colors and pleated to the leaf. They tried other kilts and found Acrylic wouldn't hold up under repeated washings. As far as I know the Poly/Cotton has resisted stains and dirt very well.
Part of that may be that the MarPat I use is actual MilSpec fabric. But it seems to me that Poly/Cotton would still be far better than Gortex.

Is that why the CadPat was so difficult to sew, because it too was Gortex? What weight Poly/Cotton would you recommend for say an X-Kilt?

The problem with asking about weights of Poly/Cotton is that most people other than kilties have no idea what fabric weight is and don't care.
The stuff I buy is listed by the weaver as 7.5-8 oz. But when you actually weigh it out comes to 12.5-13 oz.

When you feel the fabric on the bolt it should feel thicker and heavier than typical "Dockers" slacks which are about 6-7 oz.

It should also have a firm, tight feel to the weave. If you can find it, get the kind that has a stain resistant coating on it or get a bottle of ScotchGuard and spray the heck out of the fabric before you start to sew.

And yes we were talking about Cordura and not GorTex, my mistake. Still, I don't think I'd want a kilt from it. Stiff, so no swish, and it would take about 40000000000 washings to get it to soften up.

It's very comfortable to wear, bullet proof. Cleans up no problems. Has a good swish, light weight. Unfortunately I can't get it anymore. Still searching.
