Welcome! I live not far from you in NJ...also a piper, but in the early stages (only playing 2 years). If you get a chance, I'd love to see a picture of the Lawrie pipes. Regards - Tom
Here ya go Tom:
1/2-Mounts are nickel and ends are very 'weathered' ivory. Comb and beading is a fine cut and the finish, considering their age, is fantastic. The Nickel obviously needs a polish...which I think I'll be doing Saturday...
I'm currently using Sheppard reeds in my Sheppard chanter. My Naill cracked during transport at the last competition (Hunter Mountain in NY) many years ago and I got the Sheppard as a [cheaper] replacement for the day. I liked it so much, I never replaced the Naill...
I'm also using Long Eezedrone Reeds found HERE and man...they are soooooooo sweet and mellow. I won them on a raffle (along with a bottle of Single Malt WOOHOO!!) and tried them. It was a bit of a challenge to get them tuned and took a few days straight of playing but they finally settled in. It took almost a week but I was determined not to be outwitted by Tupperware...lol.

Great looking pipes! I really have a great appreciation for antique pipes, especially the craftsmanship. My first set (and current set) are secondhand Kintails...they sound pretty good and the price was right. I also play EZ Drones, they strike up real easy and sound great. I play Troy and McAllister reeds in a McCallum chanter....mainly because that is what my instructor plays. Thanks again for posting.
