Kilted in the snow down south

And here I thought that everyone from Michigan was out on I-75 on their way to Florida!
Sometimes, I think that all southerners need to spend a winter in the midwest or northeast to truly appreciate a COLD winter. My six months in one of Wisconsin's worst winters on record was a real eye opener. The snow started in October and didn't seem to quit until April. My only mistake was when I tried to build an igloo for the kids. The thing collapsed on me leaving only one free arm and my head outside the portal. At least I could use that arm to throw snowballs at the back window until the wife came!
I am extremely jealous of the knitted socks! Have been trying to find some good U.S. made (interpret as affordable) over the calf socks that are more in tune with kilts than so many of the hiking styles I have found. As to reading the book in one day. NOW I know who to contact when I finish my mystery to give it a run through and tear it apart as a critique. Now back to the business of moving those microwave ovens...er, fine tuning listings.

After 11 winters in NH, I got a real kick out of my first "Storm Watch" in Atlanta. I sent the following warning from the National Weather Service to my friends back north:

"...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 AM EST THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 AM EST THURSDAY...ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM FRANKLIN TO GRIFFIN TO MONTICELLO TO WARRENTON.

AT THIS TIME...IT APPEARS THE GREATEST CONCERN WILL BE THE THREAT OF SLEET OR SNOW MIXING WITH THE RAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. NO SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF FROZEN PRECIPITATION ARE EXPECTED. DUE TO INCREASING EASTERLY WINDS...TEMPERATURES ARE NOT EXPECTED TO WARM MUCH DURING THE AFTERNOON...REMAINING IN THE LOW TO MID 40S. "

Needless to say, I've been enjoying my first winter here.

Winter in Atlanta gets better, sometimes we go for several years and never see snow or ice. I for one appreciate the winters here, I have lived in Kansas, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. I've had my feel of snow and cold weather.
