How would you respond?

I know this most likely has been asked somewhere before,but myself being a newbie,and a bit lazy to go search for it,I was wondering:

How would you handle a situation or what would you say if some said:

( Yeah,but its still a skirt) Had a jerk say this.

My response- Intelligent, cultured people call it a kilt.

( Is that a Kilt?) Had someone ask this in a crowd at a super market.

Simple answer to this one- "Yes!" I had a lady say to me once that she had never actually seen a kilt up close, and was very impressed at how masculine and attractive they actually are. She had always assumed that they were just glorified skirts before she got a good look at mine.

( Hey dude,Love your costume) Idiot at the mall while we were Christmas shopping.

Ask "What costume?"

( Hey Bud,would you not mind wearing your kilt? I have some buddys coming and two are very homophobic ) Said by a former friend when he invited my wife and I to a cookout last labor day.

To this I say "So the problem with wearing this ancient and traditionally masculine garment, then, is... what exactly? If they're too ignorant to recognize it for what it is, then that's their problem; not mine." If the problem continues, also remind your friend that ignorant is what we all are by the very nature of being human (we can't all know everything about everything) and that stupid is something we choose to do. If these people choose to be stoopid, then by all means, let them. Or as me GrandDad Leddy used to say "You can lead a jackass to knowledge, but you can't make him think."

These are just a few,but they are well offset by all the positive comments over the past year or so.

And there you go. This is really the core. If you feel the need to respond, then do so in a tasteful and intelligent way. My grandpa Leddy also used to tell me that if you don't have anything intelligent to say, then you shouldn't say anything at all.
