    Masonic Curling Tournament

I never heard of a Masonic Curling Tournament, so I went in search of more info on the net. When I googled "Masonic Curling Tournament" the only hit I got was this very thread.....

    More info please.

When our local ice rink was built back in 2001, there was talk of curling, but sadly it never materialized, more's the pity!

btw, have you seen Men with Brooms?

The District of Bedford, Grand Lodge of Quebec has an invitational district curling tournament each year in the town of Cowansville. This is part of what folks call The Eastern Townships; a predominantly Anglo part of Quebec with lots of Brits and Scots. The reason a tiny country lodge from NH is involved is because one of our members heard about it while he was working at Champlain as a customs officer and was invited. We have since made it an international incident! I won a cordless drill last year
Curling is fun although it is harder than it looks. it was descibed to me as the only sport that one can smoke cigarettes, drink beer, and eat bratwurst while playing (mayde horseshoes too?) I don't smoke or drink so I eat a lot of sausage. Actually these guys don't do any of that while they play, they're pretty serious about their game, but the pea soup for lunch is great.
I wish there were more opportunities to curl around here. The closest club is way down in Mass. and it's pretty pricey I made some stones out of concrete and slide them around the pond in my back yard but it just isn't the same.

Here's one of us getting ready to demonstrate the "sit and spin" technique.

Never tried curling, but I do recall as a kid living in north Seattle a curling rink near Bitter Lake. I'm sure its long gone.
It was the only curling rink south of the border in Washington state I was aware of.
