Greatcoat with the kilt?

I have a motorcycle jacket that I wear with the kilt sometimes, but I like these ideas regarding the great coats, battledress jackets, and RAF bombers. In spite of the temptation, I have to remind myself that it just doesn't get cold enough in Houston to wear a great coat. I do have a plastic Inverness cape for rain, though. But, how it pales compared to these wonderful woolens!
