The apron idea is a good one, I often wear one, too. If it is cool outside I wear a Carhartt vest with big pockets, when warm a work apron handles all the tools. It also keeps wear and dirt off the tops of my legs which are usually the first place to wear when working.
And, as some have pointed out, I do pay more attention to proper posture and lifting methods while kilted (laughing.) Especially in the front yard.
Yep I strip mine right off, too (sorry, String.) Instead of struggling out of p***s and leaving trails of dirt all over the floor, it's a darn sight easier to strip off the kilt right as I am walking in the door and heading for the shower.
