Shopping for clothes
My measurements have become stable. A lot on the fat side, but not growing further. Go to "menswear" store. No kilts section. Be bummed out. Jackets wrong length to go with kilt. Wrong colour to go with kilt. Shirts, yea something that will go with kilt, check against tartan swatches. Ignore sale in p***s department. Run into another kiltie. Both of us ask salesperson where are the kilts? Salesperson looks like dear in the headlights. Large smile when leaving store.

There is no doubt that I have spent far more on kilt accessories than I have on kilts - and I have a lot of kilts.
Living over two and a half hours drive from a clothing store (other than WalMarche') I'm a catalog junkie. I get a lot of catalogs and review them all looking for "stuff" that'll work with kilts....its difficult because there's no guarantee the color shade in the catalog will be the same on the real garment when it arrives.
When I am "in town" I've been known to visit the men's clothing departments and stores kilted and when I walk in ask very politely and seriously, "Where are your men's kilts?"
Its just an extended aspect of the basic kilt addiction.
And "accessories" are a wonderful way to soothe the jones while waiting for a new kilt.

I just wish there were more winter jackets that were short enough to wear with a kilt! I'd love a good wool pea coat, but even though they're shorter than many coats they still tend to fall around the bottom of the fell. I wear sweaters with lighter jackets now, but they're just not as dressy.

I don't think that you will be completely "lost" until you have a small envelope in your sporran with several swatches (is that the right word for scrapes of fabric?) of tartan in it when you go looking for a new shirt or new hose or new tie or new what-ever.
Then you will ne completely lost. But not to worry, I'm there already and we can stumble around together!

It must be a pretty common trait as I find myself thinking exactly the same - except in the underwear dept for some reason - cannot think why!

This is so cool ! Don't worry.
The real danger comes when you have guests coming over for supper with new friends and you start wondering what their pet dog would look like once transformed into a sporran.

Some would say you will continue to be lost until the ONLY clothes you shop for are kilts and accessories for the kilts.
