No more pins for make an XKilt

					Hi Kilted men
I just sew an XKilt with Alan's instructions mixed with Tartan Hikers instructions at some points. Im really joining the experience of being kilted!

This is for you DIR'ers: You don't have to pin it! just put some Masking tape on it! it doesn't let dirt, its easier, faster and you cam sew all the pleats ironing it only one time (each side, ofcourse).

If Alan read this I have to questions about your instructions

Probably I dont understand cause English is not my first lenguaje.

1 the waist band don't cover the Over Apron Strip?
2 How You fold the Big reverse Pleat?

I have to mix Tartan Hikers instructions (after "unsew" a few stiches) to finish my Xkilt.

You make a Great Job With these instructions. (36 pags!!!) Thanks a lot!!!

 A Happy Kilted Argentinean!
 Andres

Another warm welcome from chilly Canada. Well done on your X-Kilt. I know Alan will surly read your post and make things more clear. I know he asks that as payment for making an X-Kilt that you post a picture. Allow him to be proud of your work.

Andres,I'm glad we could help you.

Masking tape is great for keeping pleat edges out of the way while sewing, but I only use it on the inside and use pins on the outside.

After lots of trial and error I've concluded that the "big pleat" shouldn't be more than about 3 inches deep.

If you are putting a waist band on your kilt, it should certainly cover the entire top edge of the kilt, including both aprons.

And another welcome from Canada. But from the warm part this time.
Unless your masking tape in SA is different from that here in NA I would not use it against fabric. Especially if you iron over it. The glue on masking tape is softened with heat and very hard to get out of fabric.
