US Maker of Trews

I'm sure Davedove is seeking the more modern military-based trews, but I did find a few pictures in my files of reenactors wearing the earlier "traditional" styled truibhs:

Actually, I've already checked and Alexis uses a Scottish tailor to produce the trews.

As Matt suggested above, many US stores supply trews, but they don't make them.

I'm just trying to figure out the logistics. Since the Dove tartan would be a special weave, when the cloth is produced it would be best to send the required amount directly to the tailor, instead of being shipped to the States only to have to send it right back overseas to the tailor.

Orvis has a few tartan trousers advertised, but they only come in four tartans, one of which is the Black Watch.

Trews are a carefully fitted garment, and you really should be measured by the tailor to avoid having them turn out looking like golfing pants. That said, the logistics should be pretty straight forward-- have your tailor in the US instruct the mill in Scotland to send the cloth directly to whoever is cutting the trews.

Can't hurt to shoot her an email and see if she sews them herself or has them made and if she really means trews. If anyone could/would. She sewed me up a great vest in the X Marks tartan.

If we are talking about making trews in the Dove tartan, then I'd really reccomend finding a local taylor. You might also try looking up alteration shops in your area. Lots of times the people who alter clothing there can also custom make clothing if you tell them what you want, or have a pattern.

Ron I don't think that is the case. If she is offering trews, and calling them trousers that would add to the confusion. I own both tartan trousers and trews. They are very different items. It might be worth calling to see if she carries them but I am sure what she has listed are trousers and not trews.

The trews would be with the other items...maybe...as you say, call and ask, can't hurt. My X Marks vest came under other items.

Ok, that makes more sense to me. I was confused because I was sure sure you knew the difference between trousers and trews Ron.
