Absolutly wonderfuly fantastic Jay. the minute I laid eyes on the HBC tartan it shot up my need list. Congratulations to you and to Cacunn on a splendid job it justfies my desire for this tartan. I beg to differ on you thought of black and grey accents, your beard has that covered in aces. No this screams for the official Hudson Bay Co colours; green, red yellow and Black (navy blue). Perhaps an HBC 5 point blanket waistcoat, yours for only 25 beaver pelts...

Who's Cacunn? What's he got to do with this kilt?

I agree. Last night I wore it with a black shirt, red tie, black hose and red flashes ( I haven't had time to make some HBC flashes yet)

Next I will branch out and pull the other colors out = green, yellow, etc.

About the ear-ring. The one I wear is one of those that you need a pair of plier type spreaders to change, and I don't do that much. It sorta hides behind the beard anyway.
